For sale. Used Railroad ties. AVAILABLE NATIONWIDE SOLD BY THE TRUCKLOAD (Flatbed Semi-Truck) A truck-load is 200-400 ties. (Depending on size/weight.) Please call for a price quote. Price varies based on grade, availability, and location. Price quote is PER-TIE and INCLUDES shipping. Here is a list of our grading rules; Description of grading specifications on used RR ties *Remember these are used ties . Usually pulled because they need to be replaced (they are no longer safe for the railroad). Sometimes good ties are pulled because of an abandonment where all the ties are pulled & resold. Select Relay grade- suitable for Track relay. Bought by railroad contractors Premium Not quite as nice as the Selects a grade above #1 s #1 grade- must have 3 good sides, straight and square, minimal end splits. Plate wear and some spike decay are permissible. Defects should not affect the structural integrity of the tie. Primary uses- Storage track, retaining walls, fence posts, landscaping. #2 grade- must have 2 good sides. End splitting, plate wear, spike hole decay are permissible. Ties may have full length checking, but through splits should not extend the entire length of the tie. Primary uses- Small retaining walls, garden borders, fence posts, and decoration. #3 grade- downfall from the above grade .
